Normandy Landings
The Normandy landings took place on June 6 1942, its code name was Operation Overlord. It was the Allied invasion of France from Nazi Germany. This battle led to the liberation of France and the downfall of Nazi Germany.
Battle of Stalingrad
The battle took place in Stalingrad Russia. It was between 17 July 1942 and 2 February 1943. The Russian army was fighting the Germans to take back the city. The battle ended with the destruction of the German 6th Army and the capture of the German Commander Friedrich Paulus.
Battle of Iwo Jima
The Battle of Iwo Jima took place on February 19 – March 26, 1945. The battle was over a small island in the Pacific between the Japanese defenders and the invading U.S. Marines. The Japanese had heavily fortified the Island. But after heavy fighting the Battle was won and the United States was even closer to defeating Japan.
